چکیده

A significant correlation between FeKα line energy and X-ray spectral slope has been discovered among radio-quiet active galactic nuclei. The ionization stage of the bulk of the FeKα emitting material is not the same in all active galactic nuclei and is related to the shape of the X-ray continua. Active galactic nuclei with a steep X-ray spectrum tend to have a fluorescence FeKα line from highly ionized material. In the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies with steeper X-ray spectrum (ΓX & 2.1), the FeKα line originates from highly ionized material. In the Seyfert 1 galaxies and quasars with flatter X-ray spectrum (ΓX . 2.1), bulk of the FeKα emission arises from near neutral or weakly ionized material. The correlation is an important observational characteristic related to the accretion process in radio quiet active galactic nuclei and is driven by a fundamental physical parameter which is likely to be the accretion rate relative to the

Probing the Hard X–ray Properties of High-redshift Radio-quiet Quasars with Asca

This paper reports the X-ray spectral analysis of 5 high-redshift (z≥2) radio-quiet quasars observed by ASCA. A simple power law continuum plus cold Galactic absorption model well fits all the spectra (tipically between ∼ 2–30 keV in the sources frame). Neither the X–ray spectral hardening, attributed to a reflection component and observed in Seyfert galaxies, nor the excess absorption previous...

The black hole fundamental plane from a uniform sample of radio and X-ray emitting broad line AGNs

We derived the black hole fundamental plane relationship among the 1.4GHz radio luminosity (Lr), 0.1-2.4keV X-ray luminosity (LX), and black hole mass (M) from a uniform broad line SDSS AGN sample including both radio loud and radio quiet X-ray emitting sources. We found in our sample that the fundamental plane relation has a very weak dependence on the black hole mass, and a tight correlation ...

The Hard X-ray Spectrum as a Probe for Black-hole Growth in Radio-quiet Active Galactic Nuclei

We study the hard-X-ray spectral properties of ten highly luminous radio-quiet (RQ) active galactic nuclei (AGNs) at z = 1.3− 3.2, including new XMM-Newton observations of four of these sources. We find a significant correlation between the normalized accretion rate (L/LEdd) and the hard-X-ray photon index (Γ) for 35 moderate–high luminosity RQ AGNs including our ten highly luminous sources. Wi...

The X-ray Spectrum of the z = 6.30 QSO SDSS J1030+0524

We present a deep XMM-Newton observation of the z = 6.30 QSO SDSS J1030+0524, the second most distant quasar currently known. The data contain sufficient counts for spectral analysis, demonstrating the ability of XMM-Newton to measure X-ray spectral shapes of z ∼ 6 QSOs with integration times & 100ks. The X-ray spectrum is well fit by a power law with index Γ = 2.12 ± 0.11, an optical-X-ray spe...

An X-ray spectral study of 24 type-1 active galactic nuclei

I present a study of the X-ray spectral properties of a sample containing 24 type1 active galactic nuclei using the medium spectral resolution of ASCA. The sample consists of 20 radio-quiet objects (18 Seyfert 1 galaxies and 2 radio-quiet quasars) and 4 radio-loud objects (3 broad-line radio galaxies and 1 radio-loud quasar). A simple power-law continuum absorbed by Galactic material provides a...
